Manchester United travel to Liverpool hoping to spoil the Red’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season and prevent them from going back to the top of the table after Manchester City beat Everton 3-1 yesterday. Mourinho

David De Gea starts in goal for Mourinho’s men, in front of a back four made up of Diogo Dalot, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Matteo Darmian. In midfield, Ander Herrera starts along with Nemanja Matic in a midfield designed to stifle Liverpool’s creativity, with Paul Pogba starting from the bench. Meanwhile Ashley Young starts further forward, with Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard looking to catch the hosts on the counter-attack as Mourinho targets another surprise result at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp sticks with the remarkable Alisson in goal. Injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez means that Nathaniel Clyne starts at right-back alongside Virgil Van Dijk, Dejan Lovren and Andy Robertson in defence. Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita are the midfield three whilst up front it comes as no surprise to learn that Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will look to terrorise the fragile Manchester United back line.

Mourinho has never lost to Liverpool in the league as Manchester United manager with two goals from Marcus Rashford giving United a 2-1 win at Old Trafford the last time these two sides met. How the Portuguese boss will be hoping his side can replicate that result this afternoon as pressure begins to build on his shoulders.
