Manchester City Defender Benjamin Mendy Hilariously Mistaken For Pitch Invader After Liverpool Win

There were an awful lot of things to keep an eye on last night as the two top teams in English football clashed at the Etihad. Man City came out of the game with all three points and closed the gap on Liverpool to just four points at the top of the Premier League table.

A huge talking point of the game came when Liverpool were 11mm from opening the scoring but were denied by John Stones, who cleared off the line after his initial error. Sergio Aguero then put City in front before Roberto Firmino brought the visitors level. It was then left up to Leroy Sane to grab the headlines and score the winning goal as City heaped the pressure back onto the Merseysiders in the title run-in.

There were jubilant scenes at full-time from the home fans and players after a battle that was unrelenting for 90 minutes. The relief was palpable amongst the City players but a jubilant figure was seen racing onto the field to celebrate with his teammates.
That man was injured full-back Benjamin Mendy who sprinted onto the field to embrace Sergio Aguero and was amazingly chased down by stewards who had mistaken him for a pitch invader.

The stewards caught up with him before realising who it was and they casually kept running towards the referee as if that is where they were heading all along. A classic clip which was missed by many last night can be watched and enjoyed down below.
