Jorginho is to become a Manchester City player within the next few days, after bonuses have been agreed between the clubs and the player’s representatives. A base fee of €48 million has been agreed between Manchester City and Napoli for his services but bonuses in the deal are the only thing preventing the completion of the transfer.
He will sign a five-year contract when the bonuses have been agreed and will be available for Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States which gets underway on the 21st July v Borussia Dortmund in Chicago.
Napoli are keen on ‘easily obtainable’ almost guaranteed bonuses such as appearances whereas City are keen to include more ‘unlikely’ bonuses such as the 26-year-old winning the Premier League whilst at the Etihad. The Italian side are also keen to include a pre-season friendly game in the deal for the talented midfielder, which would see them scoop all profits from a game between the two sides, likely to be played in the USA.
Jorginho has been at Napoli for over four seasons since being brought in as a 23-year-old for £8.55million from Hellas Verona in the Gialloblu’s first season back in the Italian top division.
An excellent central midfielder, Jorginho managed 33 appearances for Napoli his is last season, and is seen by the City hierarchy as an excellent long-term replacement for the ageing Fernandinho.
This deal is a matter of days away from being completed and Jorginho will be an exciting addition to a stacked Manchester City midfield next season.
