Manchester City Forward Raheem Sterling Holding Out For A Pay Rise That Would Put Him On A Par With Barcelona Megastar

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling is after a significant pay rise at the club which would make him one of the highest paid players at the club, behind Belgian superstar Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne’s new contract sees him earn a basic wage of £250k a week, which rises to around £342k when you consider his bonuses and image rights. According to The Times, Sterling, who currently earns £175k a week, wants a 100k a week pay rise which would see him become one of the highest paid players in the Premier League. To put this in comparison, Luis Suarez is thought to be earning the same amount at Barcelona.

The Englishman was crucial to City last season, scoring an impressive 18 goals in 33 appearances as the Citizens romped to the Premier League title with a record-breaking 100 points. He has also started this campaign well, scoring two goals in three appearances, including a cracking opener against Arsenal in the first day.

He has certainly started this season with a bang as City look to become the first team to defend the Premier League title in almost a decade. Pep Guardiola trusts Sterling and his movement for both club and country causes havoc for opposition defences. Perhaps his close-range finishing could do with some work although it is difficult to argue with his incredible goalscoring record.

Sterling is reportedly being tracked by none other than Real Madrid who are keen on the young Englishman. At just 23-years-old he already has bags of top-level experience to his name and the potential to become one of the most dangerous players in world football. City will be keen not to lose one of their key men.
