Manchester City Signing Players They Don't Need?

We built Man City on dollar bills!

With the news that Manchester City are closing in on signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, we took the opportunity to poke a little fun at the Premier League champions in waiting. After all, do they really need the Chilean striker?

You won't hear many City fans complaining but since the club takeover by Abu Dhabi United Group for £210 in 2008, it's been spend, spend, spend and win, win, win.

Premier League champions in 2012 and 2014, Pep Guardiola's side go into the weekend fifteen points clear of Manchester United, with more than one bookmaker already paying out on them being crowned 2017/18 Champions in May.

The Citizens have splashed out £224.37m this season alone, spending £160m on overhauling their defence with the arrivals of Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo plus goalkeeper Ederson in the summer.

City are still alive in all four competitions this season and a famous quad is not out of the question. With the Premier League all but decided at this early stage and they have one foot in the Carabao Cup final having beaten Bristol City 2-1 in the semi-final first leg on Tuesday. The bookies make them favourites to land the FA Cup, a trophy they have won only once since the Abu Dhabi money came into the club, whilst they are also near the top of the market in the Champions League, where Basel await them in the last sixteen next month.

Alexis Sanchez could well be in their ranks by then, but in the meantime watch and enjoy...
