Real Madrid have made a huge move this month and according to El Chiringuito, the Spanish giants have convinced Brahim Diaz to join them when his contract expires in summer. Los Blancos have managed to persuade the 19-year-old that the Bernabeu is the best place for his development and he is able to sign a pre-contract agreement to confirm the move when the transfer window reopens in January.
Diaz, who has been at the Etihad since 2013, has found game time hard to come by as part of Pep Guardiola’s stacked first team squad. He is seen as one of City’s most talented youngsters along with Phil Foden, but with no game time, the Spaniard is now ready to return to his homeland.
Having seen the success that previous City youngster Jadon Sancho has had by leaving the club, Diaz could follow suit and make his name away from the Premier League. The talented youngster has made just three starts since his debut back in 2016 and his growth could be stunted unless he makes a big decision and leaves the Premier League leaders in the next few months.
Madrid have been tracking the youngster for some time now and appear to have finally made a breakthrough, with a potential move now looking closer than ever. This will come as a blow to Pep Guardiola and the Man City staff who have put time and effort into the Spaniard’s development.
Real Madrid will be delighted if they can get this signing over the line in January, picking up one of Europe’s hottest young talents on a free transfer.
