Manchester United And Chelsea Receive Transfer Boost But Do They Need This Juventus Star?

Juventus defender Alex Sandro has aroused the interest of several Premier League clubs by admitting that he has a desire to one day play in England's top-flight, although he would face a battle to get into the starting XI of the teams he has been linked with.

Sandro is rated at an eye-watering £50m by Juventus and The Express reported that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are ready to go head-to-head (to-head) for his signature in January.

Chelsea are keen to get a bit of business done when the transfer window reopens as there is a threat of a transfer ban hanging over them next summer, and Sandro has admitted that he would like to play in the Premier League, albeit he did quantify his statement by saying he is happy in Turin.

I think, one day, who knows what will happen.

I have a desire to play in the Premier League but right now I am very happy where I am at, the club I am at, the league I am playing in.

The 27-year-old has been a key component of a formidable Juventus defence since signing from Porto in August 2015, playing a key role in their dominance of Italian football, and he has laid on two assists in twelve Serie A games this season.

The Brazilian is a quality player, although would he be an upgrade for Chelsea, United or City?

Marcos Alonso
Marcos Alonso has been something of a late developer as he signed for Chelsea from Fiorentina, following spells with Bolton and Sunderland, before emerging as one of the finest players in the division this term. The Spaniard played 33 league games for Antonio Conte last season, scoring seven goals and laying on two assists, but he has come into his own for the more attack-minded coach, Maurizo Sarri.

Alonso, 27, has scored one goal and effected five assists in twelve league outings for a Chelsea side that has kept six clean sheets in the league during 2018/19.

Benjamin Mendy
As for Manchester City, they boast the irresistible Benjamin Mendy, who has laid on five assists in his nine Premier League games during this campaign. The 24-year-old's injury woes ensure Sandro might be an ideal back-up in a City squad that arguably boasts two world-class players in every position on the pitch.

Luke Shaw
Which brings us to Manchester United, who can call upon the improving Luke Shaw. The England defender has come on leaps and bounds, albeit Sandro would be a significant upgrade at this stage, even if the younger United player does have time on his side when it comes to his development as a player. Whether Sandro would be willing to trade a Juventus side competing for silverware on all fronts for a United team seemingly in a state of transition remains to be seen.
