Manchester United are reportedly ready to cut their losses with Anthony Martial and are prepared to sell the underachieving forward.
According to the Evening Standard, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has 'lost patience' with Martial following a difficult period at Old Trafford that has seen his form nosedive.
The 22-year-old signed for United from Monaco in September of 2015 and was touted as one of the hottest prospects in the world. His transfer was the most expensive for a teenager at the time but he has struggled to nail down a regular first-team place following an encouraging first season in the Premier League.
Martial scored 11 goals in 31 league appearances during his debut campaign in England, although he has scored 13 goals in 56 outings since Mourinho was appointed as the Reds boss in 2016.
The French striker has struggled to convince Mourinho of his worth, despite starting 37 of those 56 games, and he has completed the full 90 minutes of a league match on only 12 occasions in the past three seasons.
To make matters worse, Martial's poor form at club level led to be him being omitted from France's squad for their victorious World Cup campaign earlier this summer and he has since been fined by United for returning to pre-season training late following the birth of his child.
Martial's current contract with United runs until June 2019, although the Red Devils do have the option of activating a further year. The Frenchman put new contract talks on hold earlier this month as he reportedly wants to wait and see how the situation with Mourinho's future pans out following the club's mediocre start to the Premier League campaign.
However, if reports in the Evening Standard are to be believed then United could be ready to cash in on the forward.
