Manchester United Awake From Transfer Slumber With Bids For Bayern Munich Pair BUT Gareth Bale Deal Is On Hold

Manchester United fans have been left frustrated by an apparent lack of activity in the transfer market so far this summer but reports are suggesting that they are ready to splash the cash as they have lined up bids for Robert Lewandowski, Thiago Alcantara and Toby Alderweireld.

According to The Independent, Manchester United are readying bids for the trio of players as they look to add to their squad after watching the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City steal a march on them during this summer's transfer window.

Bayern Munich are willing to listen to offers for both Lewandowski and Alcantara, although United are likely to face stiff competition from a number of other European clubs for the signature of the pair.

Lewandowski's agent had already stated back in May that the 29-year-old was keen to leave the club after scoring 41 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions last season. However, Alcantara has previously rejected United's advances as he opted to join Bayern when he left Barcelona back in 2013.

Meanwhile, The Independent are also reporting that Manchester United's proposed move for Gareth Bale has been put on hold as they are awaiting the outcome of talks between the player and Real Madrid's new manager, Julien Lopetegui, which will dictate whether the Welshman has a future at the Bernabeu.

United have also been frustrated in their pursuit of Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld as they feel the asking price is too high. The deal might not be dead though as Alderweireld has already rejected a contract extension from Spurs and he intimated this week that his future remains unclear following what he viewed as "unjust" omissions from the starting line-up during the course of last season. United are watching the situation with interest.
