Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first press conference as Manchester United went down a storm with fans as the new interim manager talked enthusiastically about player expressing themselves and taking risks.
It was a far cry from the kind of confrontational encounters we've had to watch with a sense of dread with Jose Mourinho in the last couple of years. Solskjaer appeared relaxed, jovial and genuinely happy to be taking questions from reporters when he sat down at Carrington.
While his previous experience of managing in the Premier League at Cardiff may have been a sour one, his appointment has been warmly welcomed by United fans who wanted a return to attacking football.
Solskjaer said: "These are quality players. You play without fear, with courage. You go out there and express your skills. Take risks. I want the players to be the kids that love to play football and go out in front of the best fans in the world.
"That period at Cardiff was a huge step for me. I made a few mistakes, but If you don't make mistakes you're not going to learn."
"I will have an input (in January signings). The job now is get to know the players. I've seen more or less every game. What I think I can improve them on - that's my job. The club has the recruitment and scouting, Ii'm sure they have their targets."
Solskjaer didn't need much persuading to return to Manchester. He said: "I didn't think twice when they called me to signed me as a player and I didn't this time either.
"This is more of an honour and a privilege."
United fans loved his comments on Twitter and praised his attitude as a breath of fresh air.
