Manchester United’s hunt for a caretaker manager is hotting up and they are now considering who to bring in as the caretaker manager at Old Trafford. It all looks set for United to have a caretaker manager in place until the end of the season when they will reassess the options and potentially appoint a more long-term successor to Jose Mourinho.
Now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being considered to take over the job by the leading figures at the club. That would be a move that would be a risk for United but at this point, appointing a manager with just a few years of experience.
Solskjaer began his managerial career as Molde manager, winning the league in 2011 and 2012 in Norway. After a good start to management he then took a chance with Cardiff in the Premier League under Vincent Tan but despite winning nine of his 30 games at the club he was unable to save them from the dreaded drop and was sacked in September the following season.
He then went back to Molde for his second spell in charge and is boasting a win percentage of 55% but has failed to win anything since his return in October 2015. After learning his trade in his home country he now looks set to take charge of one of the biggest clubs in world football, until the end of the season at least.
This would be a huge test for Solskjaer but one thing is for sure, United will be behind him 100% and don’t forget, he does have pedigree in the Champions League.
