Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is prepared to call upon Scott McTominay and Axel Tuanzebe during the hectic Christmas schedule.

The Reds' next opponents are Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Wednesday in the Premier League before another five fixtures in the run-up to New Year, including a meeting with Championship side Bristol City in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

McTominay has made five appearances for the Reds this season and his playing time could increase further with Paul Pogba currently banned, as well as injury concerns over Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Matic and Michael Carrick.

While Tuanzebe made his second appearance of the season last week against CSKA Moscow with an assured performance at right-back as a second-half replacement for Antonio Valencia.

"I have faith in them," the manager told MUTV during an interview at United’s training ground last week

"Honestly, sometimes, I don't play them more because I have respect for some of the older players that are great professionals and are always ready for the team.

"But, in terms of their qualities, McTominay and Tuanzebe are ready, they are ready to play so I played them with 25, 30 minutes to go against CSKA. I played Scott against Benfica when we had not even yet qualified. I have lots of faith in both of them."

The success Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford have experienced from United’s youth team to the first-team setup would be a fine example for McTominay and Tuanzebe to follow.

The duo will now be looking to push on and challenge for further opportunities under Mourinho with the Bristol City match likely to see them both involved.
