Manchester United gaffer Jose Mourinho has admitted he did not know what team he would be able to pick just three hours before the 2-2 draw at Southampton. United’s injury crisis appears to be worsening with several top players missing, including many defenders. This has not helped Jose Mourinho who is leading his side through an incredibly difficult spell.
Two draws against strugglers Crystal Palace and Southampton have dampened the mood around Old Trafford whilst they needed an injury-time Marouane Fellaini goal to squeeze past Young Boys and into the Champions League knockout stages.
On the injury crisis, Mourinho told Sky Sports: "Against Southampton, three hours before the game I don't know the team that is going to play,"
"We were waiting and waiting to see who could [play] and who could not. And we are in a very similar situation this time.
"If the game was at 11 o'clock [Tuesday morning], I would say Chris Smalling is not playing, Eric Bailly is not playing, Phil Jones is not playing, Victor Lindelof is out of the question.
"Antonio Valencia is not playing, Luke Shaw is a doubt, Matteo Darmian is back, but I have to wait, I have to select probably everybody again and take everybody again.
"Maybe we have to decide, like in the last match, with a couple of hours before the game."
United could be in for a rough ride against Arsenal who are flying at the moment and coming into this game off the back of a stonking 4-2 derby day win over Tottenham Hotspur.
