Just several days after seeing out a 0-0 draw with fierce rivals Liverpool and hopefully putting a dent in the Merseyside club’s title chances, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United travel 'darn sarf' to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in their midweek Premier League fixture
The Red Devils are currently decimated by injury, with three players - Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard - having to go off in the first half of the last gameweek fixture and join an increasingly long - not to mention worrying - list.
The trio, as well as Marcus Rashford who hobbled through the Liverpool game galiantly, join Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Nemanja Matic, Anthony Martial, as well 17-year hot prospect academy player Mason Greenwood who has 22 goals in 22 appearances so far this season, on the sidelines.
Solskjaer in his pre-match press conference has confirmed that three of Greenwood’s academy comrades would be included in the travelling squad to face the Eagles; Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong, and James Garner.
"The kids are joining in today,"
Solskjaer said (MEN).
"They'll be involved in the squad. They've been part of our training for a long time.
"Angel has been in that successful team with England U17s, the [born in] 2000 team with [Jadon] Sancho, [Callum] Hudson-Odoi and that [Phil] Foden and, he's been a big part of that Angel has definitely shown he'll do well.
"James Garner is a Michael Carrick, but 20 years younger, so I'm sure he'll do well.
And Chongy will definitely be taking people on if he comes on.
They're ready, the kids, it's hard when if you're a defender if you're 16 or 17 but as an attacker coming on but as an attacker you go out there and express yourself, there's your chance, they can win the game not lose it.
"We'll have a good team on the pitch, there'll be a chance for others. I've been sat on the outside getting a chance when this happens. Scott [McTominay] and Andy [Pereira] did fantastic, that's the way it is. You've got to be ready when you get it."
Crystal Palace versus Manchester United kicks off at 20:00(GMT), Wednesday 27th February.
