Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has had his say on the situation Alexis Sanchez has found himself in this season, claiming he has lost his hunger for the game.
This comes in the week that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, following the Champions League defeat to PSG, said: ““I can't do anything about Alexis Sanchez. When he plays he needs to finds himself because we know there's a quality player there.”
Now on Soccer Saturday, Merson and his fellow pundits have had their say on the out of form Chilean. He said:
"I hope we see the old Sanchez, but I don't see the confidence or the hunger in his eyes anymore,"
"The first thought that used to come to mind when you mentioned Alexis Sanchez was that he worked his socks off, he put a shift in.
"For the quality, he possesses as a player, he works as hard as anyone, but I don't see that anymore.
"Sanchez has lost that hunger and it's a shame. It's sad because he was good."
Meanwhile, Charlie Nichols said: “It pains people to watch Sanchez.
"He was a street fighter, a warrior, with talent. He will have an occasional burst of games but never as consistent as what he's been in the past."
Sanchez’s United side will take on Chelsea on Monday night in a vital FA Cup game and with Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard out it is a massive chance for Sanchez to step up to the plate, if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer trusts him.
