Ahead of this week’s Champions League clash with Swiss side Young Boys, Manchester United have been through the preliminaries of talking to the press in Bern.

Before manager Jose Mourinho could take the mic, goalkeeping hero David De Gea was asked top respond to questions once again regarding his future at the club.

In news that will be heavenly music to many a Red Devil ear, the Spaniard - who has won a record four Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year awards in the past five years - was quick to assert how happy he is at Manchester United.

“I feel real love for this club, the fans. I’m really happy. It’s one of the best clubs in the world so it’s really good to be part of this club.”

The 27 year-old has been incessantly linked with a move away from the club since his steady raise to become arguably the World’s number one goalkeeper. He is currently contracted at Old Trafford until the end of the season, with the option to extend for another year.

De Gea was also questioned about any apprehension on playing on plastic this Wednesday evening as opposed to grass in Switzerland.

“We are not used to playing on artificial grass so it’s going to be a bit different. More difficult but we will train tonight to see how the balls play on the pitch.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game.”

Young Boys versus Manchester United takes place at the State de Suisse in Wandkdorf Bern on Wednesday 19th September at 8pm (GMT). The match is United’s first group game of the new Champions League season.
