Manny Pacquiao kept his hands on his WBA Welterweight world title after dominating a much younger man in Adrian Broner, winning by unanimous points decision.
The Filipino fighter’s foe of old, Floyd Mayweather, was sat ringside at the the MGM Grand, and the victorious Pacquiao raised the spectre of a rematch with the man who beat him back in 2015.
“Tell him to come back to the ring and we will fight,” the 40-year-old said.
"I am willing to fight with Floyd Mayweather if he is willing to come back to box."
‘Money’ himself was non-committal when asked about that prospect himself by television crews during the fight.
“You keep asking me about Manny Pacquiao,” Mayweather, 41, said. “He needs to get past Adrien Broner first. And right now I’m living a happy and healthy life.”
The man he beat in that underwhelming encounter back in 2015 looked pretty happy and healthy in there himself, putting in a commanding display and picking apart a man 11 years his junior.
Broner had no answers in what was another disappointing display from him. All that was missing from this statement of wellbeing was a knock out, but it was safety-first for the Filipino and his trainer Freddie Roach, with whom he reunited for this bout.
“At the age of 40 I can still give my best,” Pacquiao said afterwards. “Although I wanted to be aggressive more, my camp told me don’t be careless and to counter him and wait for opportunities.”
“The Manny Pacquiao journey will still continue.”
