Manuel Pellegrini To Make Former Arsenal And Manchester City Star Next Transfer Target For West Ham

West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini is looking at bringing in a familiar face to help the Irons mount a solid, if not spectacular, Premier League campaign.

A woeful start to the season - four back to back opening league losses - left the Chilean teetering, but Pellegrini managed to wrench the East London club back onto the tracks, away from the relegation zone.

Though another turgid spell has followed, the Hammers now sit in a modest 13th position in the league following a 4-2 win over Burnley, and the incentive surely remains to break into the top half of the table.

Devastating injuries to both summer signings Andriy Yarmolenko and Carlos Sanchez however has depleted Pellegrini’s options for a preferred XI, with the duo out on the sidelines for the entire season.

Furthermore, perpetual setbacks to Manuel Lanzini and Jack Wilshere have also been worrying.

Though brought to Manchester City from Arsenal during the tenure of Roberto Mancini, going on to win the Premier League in his first season at the Etihad, Samir Nasri achieved further considerable success under ‘Charming Man’ Pellegrini after the manager took over from the Italian (winning another title for the Blues), and a reunion is now being lined up in the English capital (The Mirror).

In 2016 Nasri left the Cityzens after five years, first making a season-long loan to Sevilla subsequently permanent, and then arriving at Turkish side Antalyaspor.

The Frenchman has been without a club since completing an 18 month suspension from the sport for breaching the World Anti-Doping Agency rules.

Now 31-years-old and out of the game for a significant amount of time , it's debatable how much Nasri can bring to the game, but helping to patch up open wounds - even if just showing glimpses of his former self - may aid Pellegrini and West Ham’s quest for relative success.

Nasri missed just four league games in City’s second EPL triumph, with Pellegrini in 2013/14, contributing seven goals and nine assists as they pipped Liverpool to the title.

West Ham next travel to lowly Huddersfield in a league meeting this weekend.
