Maradona Plays The Role Of Villain In New World Cup Advert

Maradona, Cafu, Stefan Effenburg and Vicente Del Bosque all star in a promotional video for gambling company BWin for this year's World Cup in Russia.

The former Argentina captain and manager steals the show in the advert titled - Who Stole The Cup? - as the World Cup legends each plot a theft of the famous World Cup trophy from an event in Russia.

The film certainly doesn't spare any cost production wise, with a 'Mission Impossible' style plot with a dousing of humour along the way. You'll have to watch the video to find out who stole the cup, although it's pretty obvious that this is the first in a series of promotional videos.

Maradona, whose codename for the video is 'Hand Of God' (of course it is!) has only just been announced as the President of Belarussian outfit Dynamo Brest (read more). The footballing legend is synonymous with the World Cup, winning it as a player in 1986 where he almost single handily guided the Argentines to victory in Mexico. The diminutive number 10 started in 21 consecutive matches for Argentina in four World Cups from 1982 to 1994, scoring eight times and providing eight assists.

Cafu is another World Cup winner, twice with Brazil in 1994 and 2002 making over 140 appearances, whilst Vicente Del Bosque managed Spain to victory in 2010. Steffan Effenburg is the weak link of the quartet not having won the World Cup for Germany and only amassing 35 caps. The German was a classy midfielder in his day but he's a bit out of his depth in this company!
