Mayweather v McGregor: ''I Just Don't See How It Doesn't Happen''

It feels like we've been talking about the possibility of Connor McGregor fighting Floyd Mayweather forever.

The possibility of two of the biggest egos in world sport clashing in the boxing ring looks to be a step closer after UFC president Dana White said that he thinks the bout will happen.

Speaking on American talk show Late Night With Conan O'Brien last night, White said: "I do think it’s going to happen. I think it’s going to be a tough deal, because obviously (there are) a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always makes it tougher. On the flip side, there’s so much money involved. I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen."

McGregor is contracted to the UFC so they would have to be involved in the promotion and revenue while it is going to take mega money to get Mayweather to come out of retirement.

White added: “Conor McGregor is huge. He’s 27 years old. He’s in the prime of his career. Floyd is 40. Floyd has always had a problem with southpaws. Conor is a southpaw. And Conor hits hard. When he hits people, they go. Floyd’s definitely not knocking him out — that’s for sure. I’m not saying that Conor would win this boxing match, but it sure makes it interesting.”

If a deal can be struck it promises to be one of the biggest pay per view events in history - if not the biggest.
