14:40 Wolverhampton - 5f Class 5 Novice Stakes - Flying Sparkle 11/8 - 1pt Win

Yesterday’s selection Kazawi finished second at in the 20:15 at Kempton going down by under a length to the fast finishing Exceeding Power and I’m hoping to bounce back with a winner from Wolverhampton this afternoon. It’s Warwick and Musselbugh who are the unlucky racecourses who have been forced to cancel their fixtures today due to the heavy rains over the previous days. However there’s still plenty of action on offer with All-Weather meetings at Wolverhampton this afternoon and Chelmsford this evening.

And it’s from the Black Country where my selection comes this afternoon in the 14:40 5f Novice Stakes in the form of Michael Bell’s FLYING SPARKLE (11/8). She was raced three times as a two-year-old in 2017, winning on debut at Windsor in a class 5 event over 5 furlongs. Later in the year she went on to finish second at Yarmouth before lining up in a listed race at Redcar, The Two-Year-Old Trophy. After being sent off at 11/1 she broke well and was always in contention, keeping on well to finish ½ a length behind the winner Darkanna in second.

That form looks really solid and she has by far the strongest credentials in the race and she should take all the beating. The one question mark is that she is unproven on this tapeta surface, but I’m confident that she will still have the beating of this small field of five runners. To add to this jockey Cameron Noble holds a 5lb claim and he’s currently operating at a 17% win rate this season and looks the man for the job this afternoon.

Looking at the rest of the field, Midsummer Knight has failed to get his head first past the post on 11 starts now with Dragstone Rock and Q Twenty Boy disappointing on debut. She has been a drifter in the market this morning but I I feel this is just the price simply correcting itself as she should have never been the 8/13 that she opened in placed last night. All taken into consideration I’m going to advise a 1 point win at the 11/8 that is currently available.
