Michael Smith's sensational start to this year's Unibet Premier League Darts campaign continued on Thursday night, as 'Bully Boy' recorded his fourth win in four matches, and cemented his place at the top of the league with a win over Simon Whitlock, while Michael van Gerwen sparkled in front of a bumper crown at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, as he rocketed into second place in the table with a comfortable win over Daryl Gurney.
It was the first night of Premier League action this year to venture into Europe, and Smith and Whitlock, who were the only two players with a 100% record going into the evening's matches, locked horns, but Smith shone in front of the 12,000 spectators, and his string of four legs on the bounce was enough to secure his dominance over Whitlock, and Smith went on to win 7-3, and make it a perfect eight points from his first four games, as he continues to be the surprise package in this year's event.
Mensur Suljovic was the only player heading into night four without a point to his name, but the Austrian finally got his Premier League campaign off and running, as he eased past Gerwyn Price 7-3, and the victory for Suljovic, who is making his debut in the event this year, sees him move off the bottom of the table, and it sees Price drop to the foot of the standings after four weeks, as he continues to struggle in this elite competition.

van Gerwen produced a fine performance last week to beat Gary Anderson, and the Dutch sensation was in tremendous form yet again on Thursday, as he eased past Daryl Gurney 7-2, and having averaged 115 through the early stages of the match, 'Mighty Mike' continued to outscore his opponent, and had an average of 104 at the end of the nine legs played.
World champion Rob Cross struggled in the first couple of weeks of the Premier League, but 'Voltage' followed his win over Peter Wright last week with another success in Berlin, as he got the better of Raymond van Barneveld 7-3, while the final match of the night was an absolutely stonking finale, with Gary Anderson and Peter Wright sharing a 6-6 draw.
The Scottish duo both lit up the oche, and it looked like Wright would be the man picking up the two points, as he went into a 6-3 lead, but Anderson produced a fine comeback, and with Wright missing a bullseye, it was left to Anderson to claw his way back for a draw, as both averaged 105 in a tremendous final leg on a record-breaking evening at the Mercedez-Benz Arena.
