“Mourinho Owes A Huge Apology” - Manchester Fans Go Mad For Pogba And Martial Masterclass At Fulham

It seemed that Manchester United certainly were intent on making it eight league wins out of nine for interim manager after travelling down to Premier League strugglers Fulham.

United had previously collected 22 points from a possible 24 since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was announced as interim manager at the end of 2018, showing attacking intent, flair, freedom, and real purpose.

On Saturday afternoon it was the same again. Coming out of the blocks quicker than you can pay a long-standing bill at the Lowry Hotel, the Red Devils showed no mercy from the off to their hosts the Cottagers, and produced the brilliance that is becoming almost routined on a weekly basis, going 2-0 up in the first half of the game.

It was one of the main benefactors of the Solskjaer renaissance, that man Paul Pogba, scoring for the seventh time in his last eight league games, to open before even the quarter of an hour mark with an audacious strike than beat Fulham goalkeeper Sergio Rico.

Pogba's France compatriot Anthony Martial - having recently signed a contract to extend his tenure at Old Trafford to the joy of fans everywhere - then offered up some further fantastic French flair to take the ball from even before the half-way mark on the Craven Cottage pitch, through a dazzling run, then slot past Sergio Rico comfortably.

It sent the travelling fans into an absolutely frenzied bean-feast and social media ablaze with misty-eyed adoration for the dynamic duo of Pogba and Martial, as well as specifically referring to their astonishing upturn of form since Solskjaer’s predecessor Jose Mourinho departed Man Utd;

Jose Mourinho owes Paul Pogba  a huge apology… (@BryanALuis)

Told you every single day. Pogba will be the best player in the Prem. Maybe already is. Incredible. (@kopeceky)

Wow. Pogba best player in the league. Martial best winger in the world. (@james_milles__)

ATM, Pogba is the best midfielder in the world. No doubt about that. (@Abesamuel7)

A periodical reminder that Jose Mourinho spent the summer trying to  sell Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba, get a new contract for Marouane Fellaini and buy Harry Maguire.” (@Calvbetton)

Two absolutely brilliant goals. Pogba dominant & Martial is unplayable when he’s like that; pace, control, awareness, strength, composure...those two are just on another level to anyone else on the pitch. Wonderful.” (@Doc_Joshi)

Though the comments are maybe verging on the point of hyperbole, Pogba is certainly becoming worthy of the brobdingnagian price-tag that has hung over his head since arriving back from Juventus in the summer of 2016. Anthony Martial has been a fan favourite ever since being brought from Monaco as the then-most expensive teenager of the world.
