A fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury could take place in November according to latest reports.
Talks between the two camps have been ongoing for a few weeks now but social media gossip and comment is suggesting that a deal is close to being made.
Fury has sounded confident of fighting Wilder in Las Vegas on a number of posts via his twitter account but reports of a bout on December 8th look wide of the mark.
That date would clash with a major UFC PPV which means that November is the much more likely option, with the 10th and 17th the two dates under consideration according to the latest report from ESPN.
Wilder is desperate for a big fight having had a number of easy defences of WBC title and a fight with Fury, who would be having just his third fight since returning to the sport, would prove an attractive option for the American. If Fury is going to be beaten, then best to get him early on in his comeback.
Fury remains unbeaten and believes he is the rightful world champion having never lost his belts in the ring and the opportunity to fight Wilder before Anthony Joshua gets to him is obviously appealing.
The winner of the fight would be in pole position to fight Joshua at Wembley Stadium in April for a shot at all four world heavyweight title belts.
Should the fight be confirmed, it will be a massive step up in class for Tyson Fury who is set to face Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park later this month on just his second bout since coming back to the sport.
That fight on the under-card of the Carl Frampton bill could be made all the more spicy by the presence of Deontay Wilder who could be at ringside to watch his potential opponent.
Fury and Wilder are both talented in the ring but both are equally skilful at running their mouth so we could be in for some genuine fireworks if this potential fight is agreed.
