The 3pm kick-off takes place between two teams with nothing to lose, and, admittedly, nothing to win as Saudi Arabia play Egypt in their last games of Group A.
Both are on 0 points and have had their World Cup brought to an untimely end.
The match kicks off simultaneously with the other game in Group A, at 3pm (BST) at the Volgograd Arena,
Saudi Arabia
A win for Saudi Arabia would bat away the impending labelling of ‘worst team to ever play in a World Cup’. They could do this with a win against a down-and-out Egypt team who has a second-half capitulation against a buoyant table-topping Russia side, to lose their second successive game.
Moving off the bottom with three points in this final game will provide The Green Falcons with a little more pride and legitimacy to compete in future tournaments.
If this is a task too far, getting their first goal of the World Cup may give cause for a modest Saudi Arabian celebration.
Players To Watch
Essam El-Hadary will become the oldest person to ever play in a World Cup game if he starts in goal against Egypt. The 45 year-old was an unused substitute in Saudi Arabia’s two previous group matches.
Who replaces the injured Omar Hawsawi to partner skipper Osama Hawsawi at centre-back could come down between the popular but ageing Motaz Hawsawi and Ali Al-Boleahi, who started against Uruguay.
Young talented midfielder Abdullah al-Khaibari may be given the 90minutes as a confidence boost and a platform to improve for a future campaign.
Absences
Taiseer Al Jassam, Omar Hawsawi and Mansour Al-Harbi are all injured.
Predicted Line-Up
Essam El-Hadary - Yasser Al Shahrani - Motaz Hawsawi - Osama Hawsawi - Mohammed Al-Burayk - Abdullah Ateef - Hussain Al-Moqahwi - Salman Al-Faraj - Salem Al-Dawsari - Yahia Al-Shehri - Mohammed Al-Sahlawi
Egypt
Egypt can consider themselves hard-done by. Not only was their talisman injured mere weeks before the start of tournament, but the Pharaohs were just squeezed out marginally by a lacklustre Uruguay side to derail their World Cup bid from the off.
Many sniggered that Egypt may be the team to prevent Russia from entering the knock-out stages, becoming only the second team after 2010 hosts South Africa to be a home nation not to make it out of the group phase. Unfortunately for the African nation, this has not proven to be the case.
Players To Watch
Rested for the vital opening Uruguay game, off-form against hosts’ Russia- it’s been a tournament to forget for Premier League Player of the Year Salah. The only thing he has gained from this summer is an honorary citizenship of Chechnya. However, if the Liverpool man does start, it would be a naive person not to expect to see him get on the scoresheet at some point.
Stoke City’s Ramadan Sobhi should start up front and may help to light up the match
Absences
Ahmed Hegazi and Omar Gaber are both out with muscle injuries sustained in Egypt’s previous match against Russia.
Predicted Line-Up
Essam El-Hadary - Mohamed Abdelshafi - Ali Gabr - Saad Samir - Ahmed Fathi - Tarek Hamed - Mohamed Elneny - Trezeguet - Abdallah El-Said - Mohamed Salah - Ramadan Sobhi
Prediction: Saudi Arabia 0-2 Egypt
