Can you class Pokemon catching as a sport? Maybe not. Okay, this might not be sports related, but It’s Ryan Reynolds voicing over PIKACHU and it might be one of the best or strangest things we’ve seen come out in the cinema over the last few years.
Detective Pikachu, the Nintendo DS game which has been turned into a film. Ryan Reynolds has gone from being the star of the R-rated blockbuster “Deadpool” to being a live action Pikachu what a world we live in! The film follows the adventures of a young man named Tim Goodman who has always dreamed of being a Pokemon trainer but his dreams didn’t go as he planned. UNTIL, a wild Pikachu appears in his room who he figures out he can talk to.
The goal of Tim Goodman is to find his dad who went missing and Pikachu claims he can help him find his dad hence the title of the film “Detective Pikachu”. The film’s release date is yet to be fully confirmed, but at the end of the trailer it confirms it will at least be released in 2019.
The fans have had mixed reactions on social media but most people are just in shock! Albeit seeing the Pokemon in live action animation form is rather strange but seeing all our favourite little monsters on the big screen in 2019 is a big yes from us. Whether you’re a Pokemon nerd or just played it as a kid, you’ve got to appreciate what will be the first ever live action film in the Pokemon franchise.
