Mathias Pogba has lifted the lid on his brother’s relationship with former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho in an insightful interview with RMC Sport. The Tours midfielder has put the blame firmly on the Portuguese manager’s shoulders after he was sacked by the club after a woeful start to the Premier League season.

"It was Mourinho who was the problem

"Mourinho still wants to be the centre of attention. The problem was Mourinho, right down the line.

"In the locker room, outside the locker room...everything, I know my brother, and you tell him, 'Go. Go play ', the rest, he will do it.

"From what we see of Mourinho, he always wants to be the maestro, the centre of attention.

"(Paul) does not even calculate that aspect: you respect him, he will respect you, you trust him, he will produce big performances."

Pogba has certainly flourished since the departure of the  Jose Mourinho and new gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is bringing the best out of the French World Cup winner. He has bagged four goals and three assists since Mourinho’s departure and is finally looking like a player worth £89m, although it has been against some of the poorer sides in the Premier League.

If Pogba can put in the same level of performance against some of the better sides in the league, starting with Spurs this weekend, then it could play a big part in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer getting the job on a full-time basis. One thing is for sure, Pogba certainly seems much happier under the former United striker!
