Mario Balotelli has made a career out of producing the ridiculous and the sublime on a football pitch so his antics on Sunday night should come as no surprise.
The former Liverpool and Manchester City forward gave Marseille the lead in their Ligue 1 clash against Saint Etienne with a quite sumptuous volley. Admittedly, the Italian was afforded not only the space of the six-yard box by the opposition defenders but also the freedom of France. It was still a lovely goal and well worth watching further down this page.
Balotelli then came up with a celebration that matched the brilliance of his volley.
He ran behind the goal to a photographer who passed him his phone and Balotelli then gathered his Marseille teammates around for a 'selfie' video. It was undoubtedly choreographed before the game but it was a lovely moment - you can see the goal and the celebration in all of its glory in the video at the end of this article.
Balotelli wasn't done there though as his iPhone celebration was then posted on his Instagram feed while the game was still going on! Check out the videos below!
The career trajectory of the 28-year-old has rarely been straightforward but he exhibited all of the roguish qualities that make him such a character at the Orange Velodrome.
Balotelli was scoring only his fourth goal of the campaign on Sunday - he has collected seven yellow cards - but it is his remarkable celebrations that will capture the attention of the world.
And here's an 'iPhone view' of Balotelli's celebration...
