Few golfers garner as much attention as Phil Mickelson and the famous left-hander is once again in the spotlight ahead of the Open Championship at Carnoustie.
The 48-year-old has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons of late with that rule breach at the US Open, but he remains in good form and clearly has designs on lifting a second Claret Jug this week.
Mickelson finally got his hands on the oldest trophy in the sport back in 2013 at Muirfield and he arrives into town this week eager for a repeat victory.
"Lefty" has certainly been wowing the crowds behind the scenes so far with one of his famous flop shots going viral on social media. European Tour Pro Gary Evans posted a video of Mickelson hitting one of his trademark shots right over his head from a matter of inches away.
Evans looked nervous as Mickelson took a swing back but he emerged unscathed as the American legend managed to wow onlookers with a simply remarkable piece of skill.
An incredible show of quality from one of the greatest golfers to have ever played the game and we can only hope that Evans has a spare pair of pants in his bag!
It is anyone's guess how the three-time Masters winner manages to get so much loft into a ball so quickly but it does prove he is in good heart ahead of the first round.
The multiple major winner will be teeing off at 8.03am on Thursday morning alongside Rafa Cabrera-Bello and Satoshi Kodaira in a three-ball which is sure to be popular amongst the galleries.
Mickelson doesn't have the best record a Carnoustie, missing the cut in 1999 and 2007, but he did win in Mexico earlier this season and there would be few more popular winners this week than the man from San Diego.
Don't try this at home!
