There’s been some pretty eye-catching, and downright bizarre, celebrations so far this season. Ranging from a player falling down a flight of stairs to Dele Alli’s hand gesture, which rapidly became an internet craze.
However, over in Sweden Kennedy Bakircioglu has posted a contender for “Celebration of the Season” following his unique reaction after he found the back of the net for Hammarby.
Bakircioglu, who has been at Hammarby for six years, entered onto the pitch in the club’s match at home to Goteborg with 17 minutes left on the clock.
Six minutes later the 37-year-old veteran stamped his name on the scoresheet after he stepped up and curled home a stupendous 30-yard free-kick, which put his side 3-0 up.
While the goal itself was stunning, it was Bakircioglu’s subsequent celebration that will go down in history after the cult hero impressively caught a plastic beer cup that was thrown from the crowd, then proceeded to down the beverage, much to the delight of the supporters.
The win meant Hammarby are 3rd in the table whereas their opponents dropped to 12.
In the aftermath of the game Bakircioglu told Swedish broadcaster C More:
“It was a beer that was thrown in with joy. I managed to catch it and get a little bit. I thought it was awesome, a funny thing.
“I've been waiting for this chance for a long time. I just hoped to come in and now I had to come in. I think it's my third free kick goal against Gothenburg. It works well against Gothenburg.”
