Pogba And Rashford Are Key But Manchester United Must Play This Attacking Star To Stand Any Chance Of Beating Liverpool
Manchester United will head into tomorrow afternoon's crunch Premier League tie with Liverpool knowing that a victory can not only improve their quest for a top-four spot, but it can also put a huge dent in Liverpool's hopes of claiming their first Premier League title.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn't put a foot wrong since taking over at the helm at Old Trafford following Jose Mourinho's exit, and a win tomorrow could well give the United board no option but to award him with the full-time manager's position.
Solskjaer has certainly made his stamp on the team and his promotion of Marcus Rashford to number one striker has seen him blossom, while the brilliance of Paul Pogba has come to the fore under Solskjaer's watch and that pair will be vital if they are to pick up a positive result against United.
However, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are fitness doubts ahead of Sunday's clash, and if they are both absent then Solskjaer will need to shuffle the pack somewhat and he will have some tough decisions to make.
One huge decision he should take is to play Romelu Lukaku alongside Rashford from the start. The Belgian has been finding it tough this season, but his aerial presence could well give Liverpool's defence some major problems and it could mean that United have to focus on keeping him quiet.
Lukaku should be unleashed from the start and his sole purpose should be to keep Virgil van Dijk busy and that should allow Rashford some space to try and scythe through the Reds defence and continue his fine scoring record.
Van Dijk has been phenomenal all season and if he has Rashford to mark then he can keep the England international quiet, but if Lukaku plays then he can keep van Dijk alert and Rashford can play off the other central defender, who could be Fabinho again, who has played as makeshift centre back after a host of Liverpool players picked up injuries.
