If Man City lose 15 of their remaining 18 league games (and win the other three) they would still end up with more points than two seasons ago when they qualified for the Champions League.
They are just really good, aren't they? Hopefully, edition 21 of Premier League Bingo is as well...
Liverpool keeping a clean sheet after spending £75m on Van Dijk
Despite the inflated market of football transfer fees, there are still price tags which make you "Wow!" Virgil van Dijk happens to be the latest fabricator, as Liverpool have forked out £75m to secure the Dutch defender's services from January 1. What's the betting their shoddy backline puts in a performance from the Catenaccio textbook against Leicester on Saturday?
Carlos Carvalhal not having the new manager impact
Most struggling Premier League clubs have ditched their boss in favour of an experienced counterpart with survival instincts. Swansea, as predicted a couple weeks back on this column, have bucked the trend and gone for the charismatic but recently dismissed Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal. However ugly, most of the appointed old boys have arrived with a strategy that gets points - Swansea will be hoping they don't buck the trend in that respect.
West Brom still not scoring
For the 20% of you that don't know, Alan Pardew is in fact managing West Bromwich Albion Football Club. Since his arrival, they're winless in five games, have scored two goals and played out three 0-0 draws. It's been a very un-Pardew introduction, but things don't look like changing for the side, which one memorable TalkSport caller predicted would finish "at least sixth," back in August.
Burnley winning 1-0 against Huddersfield with a late goal
Burnley have well and truly honed the craft of Premier League football this season. Their knack of keeping a tight defence and nicking late goals via a man like the Austrian Ashley Barnes (yes, Austrian) has become a staple feature of the fourth game on Match of the Day. A home fixture against not the most free-flowing of sides in Huddersfield guarantees another classic showing.
Calendar year stats finally coming to an end
Harry Kane took the impressive, albeit slightly meaningless, record of scoring more PL goals in a calendar year than the previous title-holder Alan Shearer, with his hat-trick against Southampton on Boxing Day. It's a bit strange though, that such an obscure feat garnered such wide acclaim, given that the football season is played from August to May and not January to December. Impressive, but not pertinent.
Claude Puel admitting he purchases from TU
One Twitter user took to social media this week to expose the ongoing mystery behind Claude Puel's peculiar gilet-cum-waistcoat, which he boldly sports on the touchline. Rumour has it, it's not in fact a gilet, and instead a fabric protector, which can be purchased from Sainsbury's TU range for a mere £15. Other supermarket outlets are available.
