Talented PSG teenager Timothy Weah is hoping to be given the chance to leave the club on loan in January, as he seeks more playing time. The tricky American striker is behind Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the pecking order and as a result, has only played three times for the French champions this season.
Now, Weah is keen to show what he can do elsewhere, and the USA’s friendly at Wembley on Thursday could provide a huge platform to show what he has got. He told reporters: “Right now I'm not playing, but I'm always looking to improve, doing extra stuff and just watching the other guys and learning from them. Just waiting on my turn and hoping I'm going on loan soon.
“It's super good for me because wherever you go there's always going to be competition and you're always going to have to fight and I feel that PSG is really teaching me that you have to fight for your position even if you're not playing.
“I feel like I'm doing a really good job with the talents we have, Neymar, Mbappe and those guys. It's just a matter of time.”
Premier League clubs such as Everton, Watford and Leicester should all potentially be interested in taking a risk on the teenager but they will face stiff competition from teams in France and across Europe.
A mid-table Premier League team could be the perfect place for Weah to develop although he may think gametime could be an issue if he aims too high. This precocious young talent deserves game time and he will be aiming to show the English scouts what they could be getting if they take a chance on him in January.
The England v USA game just got a whole lot more interesting.
