Glenn Murray has revealed who he considers to be the Premier League's toughest defender.
The Brighton & Hove Albion striker has been in superb form of late and netted again on Friday as they beat West Ham at the Amex.
When asked who was the toughest defender he'd faced by Robbie Savage on BT Sport earlier, Murray had no hesitation in naming Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.
"He's a man mountain," said Murray. "He reads the game well and organises the defence to be solid. He's the stand-out central defender in the Prem."
Thirty-five-year-old Murray has now scored five goals this season and his effort last night was his 99th for the club. Only Chelsea's Eden Hazard has scored more Premier League goals this term. Brighton are now 12th in the Premier League thanks to Murray's proficiency. He also scored when they famously beat Manchester United 3-2 earlier in the season.
This year, Murray has scored 12 Premier League goals for Brighton. Only Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy are above him.
Dutch international van Dijk has plenty of admirers it seems - only last week Watford striker Troy Deeney complimented the Liverpool defender by saying: "He is too big, too strong, too quick. Too good on the ball, loves fighting, a good head of hair. One of those guys that sprays on his top as well, so it smells lovely."
van Dijk cost Liverpool an estimated £75million last year and he has been inspirational in Jurgen Klopp's side outstanding start to the season.
"Virgil van Dijk, he's the standout central defender in the Prem."
@GM_83 is full of praise for the Liverpool man.
