While Premier League clubs can now turn their attentions to the action on the pitch after the transfer window slammed shut last week, European clubs can still add to their squads before August 31, and Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain are ready to unleash an astonishing £100m bid for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to the Daily Express.
Eriksen has yet to sign an extension on his current contract, which runs out in a couple of years, fuelling rumours that he is ready to leave White Hart Lane, and with news emerging that PSG are lining up a move for the Danish World Cup star, it will mean that Spurs fans will have to hope that Mauricio Pochettino, and arguably more importantly Daniel Levy, are willing to ignore the monster bid from France, and keep Eriksen at the north London club.
With two-and-a-half weeks to go until the European window shuts then it would be no surprise to see PSG up their bids in the coming weeks, as they showed with their huge signings of Neymar (£198m) and Kylian Mbappe (£120m) that they are willing to splash the cash, and we have often seen the Spurs hierarchy wilt when huge figures are offered for their players, and the Parisien vultures are sure to be circling above the delayed White Hart Lane in order to snaffle Eriksen.
The 26-year-old was instrumental last season for Spurs scoring 14 goals and providing 10 assists, but with Spurs having failed to bring any new additions in over the summer then losing Eriksen will be a monstrous calamity from the club, and they have to stay strong when PSG potentially enhancing their bids in the coming weeks, as the departure of the playmaker would see Spurs find themselves on a real tough quest to secure a title charge, while a top-four spot would come under scrutiny, were Eriksen to depart.
