QUIZ: You Can't Name Both Squads In Liverpool's Last League Win At Manchester United

Manchester United v Liverpool is this Sunday!
Manchester United v Liverpool is this Sunday!

Easily the most anticipated fixture of 2019 thus far, Liverpool travel 50 miles east to Manchester this weekend to once again visit Old Trafford, hoping to take all three points for their frantic Premier League title quest.

Back in December, Liverpool’s 3-1 victory - incredibly their 14th out of their opening 17 games this season - at Anfield ended Jose Mourinho’s reign as Manchester United manager with the 13-time EPL champions trailing their perennial nemesis by 19 points; the biggest lead Liverpool have ever managed over them after 17 fixtures of an English top-flight season.

The Red Devils are now a different beast under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United are currently on the best streak in the English top tier, having been unbeaten in nine games, taking 25 points from a possible 27.

In December 2018, ahead of that meeting the BBC’s Combined XI poll resulted in voters only seeing fit to include one Manchester United player in the set-up, their record-signing Paul Pogba, and even then at the time that may have appeared generous.

Since then, the Frenchman has been in sizzling form, reflective of the game shaping up to be a much more hard-fought, entertainingly even-matched bout than we were exposed to at he tail-end of last year.

Over on Merseyside, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has seemingly fixed the brief wobble that threatened to derail their title challenge with the two draws, four dropped points across the January-February divide.

Liverpool have only won five times at Old Trafford in the Premier League, the last coming in the 2013/2014 season, a 3-0 rogering, in David Moyes’ only season in charge after taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson.

The two teams have met 26 times on United’s turf since the league’s formation in 1992, with United winning 16 and five at The Theatre of Dreams ending in draws.

The last clash at the ground in March saw a Marcus Rashford brace secure all three points for the home side, that result meaning United had won seven of their last nine home games against their hated rivals.

However, Liverpool are already the side to complete ‘the double’ over Manchester United the most in the Premier League era, having done so four times previously and with the added incentive (if even they needed one) knowing that the three points would put them back on top of the Premier League pile and firmly in the driving seat to claim their first title in almost three decades.

Manchester United versus Liverpool kicks off at 14:05 pm (GMT) on Sunday 24th February. In the meantime, take our quiz below to name all the players from the two sides the last time Liverpool won at Old Trafford in March 2014.
