Racing Tip Friday 13 July: Ballydoyle Filly Can Land The Spoils At Newmarket

We’ve got more televised racing on ITV this afternoon with four races from HQ being supplemented with two more from the Knavesmire. The presence of runaway 1000 Guineas winner Alpha Centauri, who runs in the Falmouth this afternoon, on course adds a little show stardust to proceedings on what should be a fine day of racing.

The Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes comes as the second race of the day on the July course and some of the best juvenile fillies of the crop face off.

The form lines of the Albany and the Queen Mary at Ascot might prove key to how this unfolds with several that contested at the Royal meeting.

Main Edition won that claimed the Albany over 6f to make it three from three for Mark Johnston and tops the market. Charlie Appleby’s pricey Dandy Man filly Le Pelosa was second behind Main Edition on that occasion but could take a big step forward here today if improving even a normal amount for that run.

Another one tied to the La Pelosa form line is Chaleur, who was second behind the Godolphin filly on debut and looks set for a big effort this afternoon based off her two runs to date. She’s been flagged up by a number of well-followed tipsters, though, and her price has well and truly crumbled.

The one that appeals at the prices is Gossamer Wings, the Ballydoyle runner. She came into things very smoothly on the front end in the Queen Mary at the Royal meeting, finishing second in a bunched finish.

The step up to six will suit today and odds of 6/1 might underestimate the chances of this daughter of Scat Daddy with the services of Ryan Moore booked.
