Jon Rahm shot a final round 67 to win the 2017 DP World Tour Championship in Dubai by one shot, as the Spaniard beat Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Shane Lowry in a thrilling final round.
The Spanish sensation had propelled to the top of the leaderboard with a third round 65, and he managed to maintain that advantage at the top of the leaderboard, and despite late surges from the aforementioned Lowry and his fellow countryman Sergio Garcia, who was two shots backing after a stunning 65, after notching up a string of birdies in his final round, it was Rahm that was victorious on -19, and ends the season with a fine success.
Elsewhere, the battle between English stars Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose in the Race to Dubai champion went down to the wire with Rose needing an eagle at the 18th to put himself in front of Fleetwood in the Race to Dubai standings, but the former Olympic gold medallist could only manage a birdie, and his two-under round of 70 was not enough to dislodge Fleetwood from his perch at the top of the standings, as Fleetwood himself struggled on the final day, and recorded a two-over round of 74, and finished in a tie-21st position.
Fleetwood's quest for the order of merit title started well with a birdie on the first, but his quintet of bogeys saw him plummet down the leaderboard, but with Rose just enable to find his best form then alongside the abovementioned Rahm it will be Fleetwood that is celebrating this evening.
