Steven Gerrard fired into his Rangers players in the aftermath of their 1-1 draw with Dundee on Sunday afternoon which saw the Gers lose ground on their rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Playing against ten-men for three-quarters of the game, Gerrard's Rangers side could only pick up a point at Dens Park and after Celtic cruised to victory yesterday afternoon it means now Rangers are two points behind their Glasgow rivals.
Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller gave Dundee the lead after nine minutes, but Nathan Ralph's sending off was the turning point in the match and Andy Halliday scored for the resulting free-kick, however, Rangers were unable to find a winner in the rest of the match and Gerrard was not impressed with his team's performance.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Gerrard said: "We didn't look like a Rangers team. "Individually we didn't look like Rangers players, we kept making stupid decisions on the pitch and we never really carried out the game plan we had been working on the last few days, so the result isn't really a surprise because our performance didn't deserve a result today."
"I have been giving players chances and maybe that has to stop because they are not really taking them. It's hugely frustrating because I did expect a reaction after we were so poor in midweek. We made a bad start, that happens, but we get a decision that goes our way and we scored from the free-kick and we're back in the game with a man advantage so there's no excuse in terms of the performance, collectively and individually it just wasn't there," added an irate Gerrard.
Rangers now face a tough Europa League trip to Rapid Vienna on Thursday night as they look to qualify for the last 32 of the second tier European competition, but Gerrard will be expecting a lot more from his players after today's disappointment.
