Raheem Sterling has blossomed under Pep Guardiola's guidance at Manchester City, but the England international's time at the Etihad Stadium could be under threat as The Guardian have reported that the attacking star's contract talks have stalled, as he is looking for a significant pay rise in a new deal, but City's board are not willing to play ball.
Sterling reportedly feels that he is worthy of a £220,000 a week deal, as he looks to become one of the club's highest earners, but the 23-year-old, who is currently on £170,000 a week at the Premier League champions, is potentially testing the patience of City's owners and could be offloaded in time.
With the news that Sterling's signature could be up for grabs then we pick out three clubs that could look to snaffle the English star up from the Citizens.
Real Madrid
Linked with Raheem Sterling in the summer, Real Madrid are still searching for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who exited the Spanish giants at the end of last season, and the Manchester City attacker could emerge on the Real radar once again. Ever since his big-money move to City from Liverpool, Real Madrid have kept a close eye on Sterling's development in the north west of England and with the midfielder having shown that he can deliver on the biggest stage then he could be a primary target for the La Liga heavyweights in the future.
Barcelona
Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez are two former Liverpool players sparkling at Barcelona, and it would be no surprise to see them trying to snap up Sterling, who burst on to the scene at Anfield before enhancing his reputation at Manchester City. With the Catalan club in a transition period at the moment with the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta having left the club then they will be looking to freshen up the squad over the coming seasons and Sterling's attacking flair is certainly a trait that would be well suited to the Barcelona way.
Paris Saint-Germain
If Sterling is looking for a significant rise in his current wage then there's only a few clubs in world football that can accommodate his needs, and while a move to China is surely out of the question one European club that could fund his signing is Paris Saint-Germain, who would love to use the England international as cover for the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. Dominant in Ligue 1, PSG are striving to win the Champions League over the next few seasons and Sterling could be an attractive signing for Thomas Tuchel's side.
Talks have broken down over a new contract as the player enters the final year of his current deal.
