Antonio Conte has "agreed" a financial settlement with his former club Chelsea meaning he could join Real Madrid imminently according to reports in Italy today.
The former Blues boss has emerged as one of the favourites to take over at Real Madrid with current boss Julen Lopetegui under immense pressure ahead of this weekend's El Clasico.
He has been out of management since leaving Chelsea in the summer but has been linked with several jobs in the past few months including Manchester United and most recently, Real Madrid.
An Italian website is reporting that Conte has agreed to terminate the remainder of his contract with Chelsea, meaning he is now free to take the Real Madrid job.
Earlier in the week, it was stated that Real Madrid may be put off appointing Conte because they'd have to pay Chelsea around £10million because of a clause in his contract. But it has been claimed that Conte has today come to an agreement with the Blues.
Lopetegui has endured a torrid start to his reign as Real Madrid boss since replacing Zinedine Zidane. The former Spanish national team coach is reportedly on the verge of the sack and even a win over Barcelona on Sunday may not be enough to save his job.
In recent days, Manchester United's under pressure boss Jose Mourinho has been linked with a return to the club because he remains a firm favourite of president Florentino Perez. However, it seems unlikely that Mourinho would leave Old Trafford at this time.
This Real Madrid star doesn't sound too happy about working for his old boss again...
