Reports from France today say that Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is "concerned" about stories that Antonio Conte or Jose Mourinho could be the club's next manager.
As the pressure mounts on current boss Julen Lopetegui, talk has inevitably turned to who could replace him.
In theory, Conte would be an easy selection given he's been out of work since leaving Chelsea in the summer. But Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is a favourite of Real President Florentino Perez and Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague says that such an appointment is a real possibility.
This weekend, Real Madrid take on Barcelona in El Clasico and a bad result could well mark the end for Lopetegui. With Barcelona clear favourites to claim bragging rights in one of the world's showpiece occasions, the omens are not good for the former Spanish national coach who has been the subject of intense criticism from the Real fans.
All of which could be bad news for former Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois who was managed by both Mourinho and Conte during his spell at Stamford Bridge.
El Pais quotes Courtois as saying: “I cannot believe it. Here I am the only one who has worked with Conte and with Mourinho. I left London to not have to go through something like that again and now it turns out that Conte comes, and if not, Mourinho.”
The odds on both Conte and Mourinho becoming the next Real Madrid boss have shortened in the past week while one-time favourite Mauricio Pochettino has drifted in the markets.
