The news today that Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora will be going back in the ring this December to settle old scores will see many a UK boxing fan rejig their pre-Christmas schedule in order to catch what could be an explosive heavyweight affair at London’s 02 Arena.
Whyte, who is in line for a potential fight with Anthony Joshua in the spring, last fought when winning a points decision against the New Zealander Joseph in July, while Chisora knocked out Carlos Takam in the same year.
Chisora, an enigmatic individual, has taken up the services of David Haye as a promoter in order to further his hopes of a fruitful twilight to his career. This is despite the fact that he held a bitter rivalry with Haye while the latter was still boxing, and they came to blows outside of the ring in another famous Chisora moment.
The pair last fought back in 2016 in what was an all-out war, with both fighters taking damage and Whyte edging a controversial split decision. The build-up to that fight had been just as bad-tempered as the about itself, and peaked when Chisora launched a table across Eddie Hearn’s perm at Whyte.
