Ricardo Quaresma scored a screamer tonight to give Portugal the lead against Iran in their crucial World Cup game.
With the game ambling towards half time with very little excitement, the 34-year-old picked up the ball on the right hand side before powering toeards the goal...
The Iran defence looked happy with the situation but Quaresma had other ideas he unleasehed a simply stunning shot with the outside of the right foot which seared into the top corner of the goal.
What a hit!
A remarkable piece of skill from the experienced wide player left the Iran keeper with absolutely no chance and gave Portugal their first goal at the World Cup not scored by a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese play an extremely turgid style of football but they have players in their squad which can priduce brilliance and this was another one of those moments.
A massive moment on the stroke of half time, the moment of brilliance from the former Inter man was just what the Euro 2016 winners needed.
Quaresma has always had that talent in his boosts which has seen some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Barcelona, take a chance on him but inconsistency has plagued the career of the Besiktas play-maker. A first World Cup start and a first world Cup goal and it is one that that he wont; be forgetting any time soon.
It was so good in fact that even Ronaldo seemed happy to see someone other than himself hit the back of the net!
