Such is the fierce rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool that compliments from associates of one club to the other are few and far between, especially if you're a legendary figure.
However, former Man Utd defender-turned-pundit Rio Ferdinand has crossed the divide and lavished praise in the direction of one particular Liverpool star, and even the most loyal of Red Devils fans will find it difficult to disagree with the comments of their ex-player.
"He is on the march to be the best defender in England. I rate him so highly," Ferdinand gushed on BT Sport in the build-up to Liverpool's Champions League clash away to PSG.
The player in question was Joe Gomez who has enjoyed a cracking season for the Merseysiders, staring in 11 Premier League games to date, during which his side have kept an impressive seven clean sheets.
Gomez is rapidly becoming one of the very best defenders in the Premier League, and has even drawn comparisons to Ferdinand himself - if he can replicate the achievements of the former England star then he's got a cracking career ahead of him.
Meanwhile, BT Sport host Gary Lineker asked Ferdinand Who he would you rather play for: Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola, or Jose Mourinho?...
"For the style of football I'd rather play for Pep or Klopp," said Ferdinand.
"Because it's exciting, on the front foot, attacking football allowing people to express themselves and that's what I'd like to be a part of."
Perhaps unsurprisingly given his comments of late, Ferdinand neglected Man Utd boss Mourinho.
