It’s been an extremely busy week for the Champions League holders Real Madrid.
Fresh from acquiring a near £100million for Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus, Los Blancos have swiftly turned their focus on securing their next generation of exciting talent amidst Neymar-swirling rumours.
Now, the 20 year-old midfielder Oscar Rodriguez has put pen to paper by extending his contract with Real Madrid to 2023.
It was only last year, Rodriguez signed a four-year deal to keep him at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, and his signature on a new five-year one now seemingly keeps him out of the grasps of such vulturing clubs as Manchester City and rivals Barcelona.
Rodriguez was the captain of the Juvenil A side, becoming three-time champion, and further helped Real’s Under 19 side make the Quarter-Finals of the UEFA Youth League before exiting to eventual finalists Chelsea.
Julen Lopetegui is the new man to take charge of Real Madrid following Zinedine Zidane’s departure after three successive European trophy wins. With an almighty task on his hands to emulate such an achievement, it now seem likely that the former Spain boss will be looking to bleed through scintillating new talent alongside so-called Galacticos to help him to achieve this aim.
The deal follows hot on the heels of Real Madrid also tying down exciting young prospects Andriy Lynin, the Ukrainian 19 year-old, and right-back Álvaro Odriozola who has just announced himself after a very successful season at fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad.
Whilst Rodriguez may not be allowed to make an immediate impact at Madrid, reports are indicating that he will allowed to progress and demonstrate his quality through a loan deal to city rivals Rayo Vallecano.
Furthermore, his new agent will be none another than the brother of Champions League hero Sergio Ramos.
