Roma Star With The Worst Miss Of ALL TIME Against Real Madrid

There are misses and then there are misses. Roma's Cengiz Under has managed to produce arguably the worst miss of all time with his comical effort during the Serie A side's Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

There didn't appear to be too much danger when Roma's Patrik Schick was pressuring Real's Dani Carvajal in the right-back position, near to the corner flag, as the half-time whistle approached...

However, Carvajal inexplicably tried a back-heel and gifted possession to a Roma player, who ran through unopposed to square the ball to an unmarked Cengiz Under.

With Real goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, desperately scrambling to get across to block, Under had the goal at his mercy. He could put the ball anywhere and score, he had time to check his watch, he could have done a crossword, such was the space he had been afforded six yards out...

What would he do? Tap it in? Blast it home?

Under went for power from barely five yards out and somehow contrived to send the ball high into the Italian sky. It was a truly dreadful effort and the player, who has been linked with a transfer to the Premier League in recent weeks, could only hold his head in hands as he spurned the chance to put Roma ahead.

Ronny Rosenthal has got nothing on Cengiz Under when it comes to missing an open goal and you can see the miss in all if its dubious glory by clicking the 'play' icon in the Twitter video below...
