Prolific baize entertainers Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump booked their places at this year’s International Championship in emphatic fashion.

The Rocket took just 90 minutes to blitz past Gerard Greene 6-0 and Trump progressed by the same resounding scoreline against Scotland teenager Chris Totten.

After impressive displays, they will both now line-up in Daqing when the main event kicks off at the end of October.

Their attendance is sure to be a hit with the Chinese fans who regard O’Sullivan and Trump as the home favourites aside from their own Ding Junhui.

Elsewhere in a packed week of qualifying matches at Preston’s Guild Hall, Stephen Maguire scored three centuries on the spin against Alex Borg en route to booking his place on the plane.

Neil Robertson was similarly impressive hitting a break of 121 and five further breaks over 50 to see of Craig Steadman 6-2.

There were no worries for either Shaun Murphy or Luca Brecel who scored whitewash wins against Matthew Bolton and Allan Taylor respectively.

It was a week where the seeded players dominated on the whole, but there was a shock defeat for Hong Kong’s Marco Fu. The world number six, who finished as runner-up in this event back in 2013, squandered a 4-2 lead to lose out to Thailand’s Akani Songsermsawad who is fast emerging as one of the tour’s dark horses this season.

The next most notable shock saw Welshman Michael White go down 6-3 to an impressive Eden Sharav.

In the more closely contested matches, China’s Zhang Yong prevailed against Fergal O’Brien, Sam Craigie edged out Thepchaiya Un-Nooh, Robbie Williams beat Zhang Anda courtesy of a respotted black in the decider and Matt Selt snuck past Alexander Ursenbacher in an entertaining contest which went the distance.
