Last weekend Midnight Shadow made the trip back down to Cheltenham to try and win another Gold Cup. Unfortunately, we didn’t win but he ran an absolute screamer to finish a very close third. The race was won by the very tough Coole Cody who we were nearly giving a stone of weight away to.
We are not yet sure where Midnight Shadow will run next but we haven’t ruled out running in the King George on Boxing Day.
I am very excited to be reunited with Vintage Clouds in the Tommy Whittle Chase this weekend. It was one of my favourite days when we won at the Cheltenham Festival this year, despite the absence of the crowds. He will always mean a lot to me and although he has been a little out of sorts so far this season, he’s back to Haydock where he has some great course form and will not mind the soft ground. In fact, his course form figures read 12222F321315 so whenever he goes to Haydock, he can be given some sort of chance.
The highlight of the weekend though is happening down at Ascot in the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle. A long list of the best three mile hurdlers take on this challenge but I’m most looking forward to seeing Champ back on the racecourse.
It has been a quiet week this week and next week in the run up to Christmas which is allowing for some much needed family time before we get extremely busy from Boxing Day onwards.
