Few sporting events in the latter half of 2018 have been as eagerly anticipated as the much-watch Deontay Wilder versus Tyson Fury fight taking place in a little over a week’s time.
The two pugilists go into the fight unbeaten; WBC heavyweight champion Wilder holds 40-0, with an astonishing 39 knockouts, whilst the 30-year-old Fury holds a respectable 27-0 with 19 KOs.
Barbs have been constantly traded, an unprecedented amount of tickets have been sold, and hype has reached astronomic levels through an extensive publicity trail.
Wilder has said he feels like a ‘killer’ ahead of the battle and has even mocked Fury’s compatriot Anthony Joshua as a ‘coward’, as well as suggesting that Fury’s appointment of trainer Freddie Roach is a sign that his opponent is anxious, exacerbated by the fact that neither Fury’s father or uncle will be in his corner.
‘I’m feeling wonderful. My mindset has changed, my body has changed, I feel like a killer’
‘Nothing at all about him that concerns me, scares me, I’m the best in the world.’
The Bronze Bomber has declared.
The Independent has reportedly viewed new footage that suggests Wilder was ringside mocking Fury during his August fight against Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park, Belfast.
‘Show me something, baby. Show me something!’
the publication claims the raucous Wilder shouted from ringside in scenes from a new behind-the-scenes documentary to be broadcast on Showtime in the near future, depicting the build-up to one of the biggest match-ups in recent years.
Fury ultimately made easy work of Pianeta in Northern Ireland, with a dominating performance in all 10 rounds to a unanimous points victory.
Wilder versus Fury however is due to take place on 1st December at the Staples Center, Los Angeles. One will emerge as the WBC heavyweight champion.
